Taking green living to the next level, this fabulous light and bright Greyton eco-pod home for sale is constructed of modular timber design that provides up to seven times more insulation than a brick and mortar home. This system is commonly used in Sweden and, thanks to the wall system, dries air, ventilates and insulates, offering a huge saving on power costs to heat and/or cool the interior.

Each wall panel consists of three layers – outer board/wall cladding, inner imported magnesium oxide board, and the cavity in-between contains an insulation layer of 100 mm and a breathing foil that allows moisture to escape but not enter. The corrugated iron roof is also insulated with magnesium oxide board and 100 mm insulation made from recycled glass, so the house is constantly breathing and ventilating. The ceiling was installed at a slight angle to create natural circulation and to ensure that hot air does not get trapped.

Glass walls connect the central living area to the two bedroom wings, bringing the beautiful outdoor vistas into the home.

This Greyton eco-pod home for sale boasts a spacious double-volume open-plan living area with fireplace, a central dining area, a kitchen with built-in oven & hob – with a scullery/laundry off the kitchen housing the other appliances, and a mezzanine study or 4th bedroom. The large main bedroom has ample built-in wardrobes and it’s en-suite bathroom boasts an indoor bath and outdoor shower. The guest bedroom wing houses 2 bedrooms and a full guest bathroom, with wardrobes in the wide passage.

This is a very easy-living, fabulous home on 1995 sq. metres of garden with a lei-water pond in a quiet country road within easy walking distance of Greyton’s village centre.

For those who haven’t yet discovered Greyton, our village is the gem of the Overberg, a historical village founded by Sir Herbert Vigne in 1854, where horses and cows roam the pretty, oak-lined lanes and everyone greets you. We have cosy coffee shops, gourmet restaurants, art galleries, interesting shops, 3 well-stocked mini supermarkets, a fantastic doctor, and the Greyton Equestrian Centre at Silky Oaks Eco Resort offers livery,  half-leases, lessons and exhilarating horse trail rides through the commonage or alongside the river. We have a tennis court, a fabulous weekly farmer’s market, and the 2,222 ha Greyton nature reserve, with 3 rivers flowing through it, offers hidden kloofs to explore, rock pools and waterfalls. Greyton is home to an interesting cosmopolitan community, and is located 30kms off the N2 just before Caledon, just 141 kms (1.5 hours drive) from central Cape Town.

Greyton is the first official Transition Town in South Africa, and a flagship project of the Western Cape’s 110% Green Initiative.

We look forward to meeting you in Greyton soon!
